The ‘Ville celebrates women-owned businesses

The Kindling Project was featured in The “Ville’s May cover story: Ladies Leading the Way alongside some of our favorite local women. Whether it's through business ownership, entrepreneurial pursuits, or advocacy. These exceptional women are paving the way for future generations of female leaders who will influence society positively.

It was a fun way to spend an afternoon in sunny downtown Northville

It’s always a treat to hang out with other women who are pursuing their passions, running their dream businesses, and providing services that benefit our community! We appreciate being photographed and interviewed for this feature.

There are dozens of women who run the shops, restaurants, and services that make Northville the charming and desirable city that it is. Their successful endeavors and initiatives have driven the local economy forward. You can feel genuine commitment and creativity whenever these ladies are gathered together.

“A Tribute to the women who make the Northville business world go round”

The ‘Ville article does a nice job of highlighting some of these cool stories but we wanted to also share links to their businesses. Please consider working with them, buying from them, or supporting another woman-owned business in our community or yours! If you know of a woman-owned business in Northville that was not included in this article, send it our way and we’ll add their link, too! TKP is proud to stand alongside these exceptional trailblazers, who embody our mission and showcase the possibilities when women ignite the fire to pursue their passion projects. Communities shine a little brighter.

Shout Out! to our TKP podcast guest, Steffanie Porter

You can learn more about Steffanie’s story in Episode #26 of The Kindling Project Podcast. Please consider downloading, listening, and rating. We are working hard to create spaces that tell the stories of firestarters like Steffanie, who are building something with passion and determination. We want to lift up and inspire all women that have that tiny fire inside that needs a little fuel and fanning.

Listen to Steffanie's journey as she turned her passion and skill into a successful business while becoming an expert in organization, simplification, and helping others detach from materials. Steffanie and her team give their clients permission to let go and declutter space creating room to clear their minds and feel free from material items that no longer serve them.

Have you ever felt you are the only one who has overstuffed rooms, closets, and drawers? Does reading the first sentence give you hives and want to crawl under the covers? Do you tell yourself you want to hold onto this stuff, just in case? Is it an item you had since 2001? Maybe it was given to you by a family member who has passed or a friend that you no longer speak with.  Well, it's time to learn you are not alone. Oftentimes, it is the unknowns of a small or big project that makes it feel stressful and overwhelming. What's more alarming is that 9.4% of U.S. households rent a storage unit. And ladies, women on average have $1,000 to $2,500 of clothing sitting in their wardrobe. 9% of women have over $10,000 collecting dust in their closets!

Steffanie Porter, founder, and owner of TidySmart Organizing Solutions, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has lived in the Northville, Michigan area for 18 years. TidySmart Organizing Solutions has been in business for 12 years. During this time Steffanie and her team of nine organizers have helped hundreds of clients from all different walks of life go from being overwhelmed with clutter to enjoying their well-organized living spaces.  They are very excited about their recent partnership with The Container Store to become the In-Home Organizer for the Container Store Novi, Michigan location. TidySmart Organizing Solutions is a Metro Detroit-based professional home organizing and move management company.
